Privacy Policy
This is a draft policy, pending legal review before BarakaLine's public launch. It describes what this website and the app actually do today, and it names every third party either one relies on.
What this policy covers
This policy covers barakaline.app, the website you are reading. The app has a second section near the bottom, because the two collect very different things and it would be misleading to describe them as one.
The waitlist
If you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you type and nothing else. No name, no payment details, no account. The form also carries a hidden field that real people never see; if it is filled in we treat the submission as automated and discard it without storing anything.
Where your email is stored
Waitlist addresses are held by Resend, an email service we use as a processor, in a single contact list. We do not copy them anywhere else. Your address is used to tell you when BarakaLine launches and to confirm you are on the list, and for nothing else without asking you first. We do not sell it, rent it, or share it for advertising.
Leaving the list
Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and using it removes you from the list. You can also ask us to delete your address outright, in which case it is removed rather than merely marked unsubscribed.
Analytics
We use Plausible on the live site to count page views. Plausible sets no cookies, collects no personally identifiable information, and does not follow you across other sites; it reports totals, not people. It runs only on the published site, not during development.
Hosting
The site is hosted on Vercel, which serves the pages and runs the small function behind the waitlist form. Like any web host, Vercel processes the technical details of a request (including your IP address) in order to answer it and to keep short-lived operational logs. We do not use those logs to build any profile of you.
Cookies and browser storage
This site sets no tracking cookies. If you switch the theme, that single preference is saved in your own browser's local storage so the site remembers it next time. It never leaves your device and we never receive it.
The app itself
The app is a separate matter and will carry its own policy, but the architecture is worth stating here because it is the reason the app exists. Anything to do with your cycle (your logged periods, your cycle settings, qada adjustments, and habit suspensions) lives in a store that is local to your phone and is never uploaded, not to iCloud and not to us. Everything else that does sync (habits, completions, journal, Journey, Muraqabah) syncs to your own private iCloud database, which we cannot read, and syncing is a choice you make in onboarding and can change in Settings. Prayer times are calculated on your device from your location; your location is never transmitted. We run no servers for the app, so there is no place for your practice to be collected even if we wanted it.
The Mac and Apple Watch
The Mac app receives only the synced data described above and deliberately has no cycle tracking at all, precisely because that data never leaves your phone. The Apple Watch app shows what your phone sends it. If you turn on HealthKit on the phone, that connection is one-way and stays under Apple's own privacy rules.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who processes it, we will update this page and the date it carries. This draft will be replaced by a reviewed version before public launch.
